The Alfred Beit Foundation is a company limited by guarantee, which was incorporated in March 1976, with charitable status granted under reference number CHY 5940.
The primary object of the charity, as stated in its memorandum and articles of association, is to promote and further the advancement of education in the fine arts of Ireland.
The Foundation is run by a committee of management which includes nominees from various national organisations including the Royal Dublin Society; University College Dublin; Trinity College Dublin, The Irish Georgian Society and An Taisce.
The Alfred Beit Foundation owns Russborough House and Demense in County Wicklow, Ireland. In 1978 it opened Russborough to the public for guided tours.
in the last 30 years over 1 million people have visited Russborough.
The House contains fine furniture, tapestries, carpets, porcelain, silver and much of The Sir Alfred Beit Collection of Paintings
