We have a new 2010 calendar at Russborough. As we continuously have events added throughout the year, it is useful to mark this page as a Favourite so that you can return and check it regularly. We would also advise that many of our musical evenings have been sold out before the closing date, so it is advisable to book online early. It is also worth noting that we are open all year around by appointment.

"Atlantis to Arcadia" - a Solo Exhibitionby Susan Morley
2010 May Sunday 16th to 5th June on Lantern Landing
Official opening by Donovan Sunday 16th May at 3.30pm
Free Admission
Susan Morley's work is a quest for the timescape beyond the terra firma. This quest is a continuation of a long tradition of exploration. Not of new lands - but of transcendent otherness. As early as the 14th century, scientific cartographers placed the island of Hy-Brasil in the Western Ocean off the Irish coast. In later maps, the islands of the otherworld were erased as erroneous. But in Morley's paintings, the tension between geographical realism and ancient myth is undermined. The linear teleology of progress is challenged. These paintings invite renewed contemplation of ancient truths - and suggest the startling reality of Oilean Draiochta, Atlantis and Hy-Brasil. After viewing 'Atlantis to Arcadia' in the beautiful Russborough one will come to realise the meaning of the title. Susan's new works embrace the pastoral surroundings of Russborough. Her works convey the mysteriousness of landscape in an ageless world. Susan who is based in County Kerry will be exhibiting her latest works of contemporary art from Sunday 16th May for three weeks. Free admission.
