The Tradition Club formed in Spring 2008 is a new arrival on the concert circuit, though it's members need very little by way of introduction to followers of Traditional Music.
The Band's line-up is impressive and features Kevin Conneff of The Chieftains, multi grammy award winners, on vocals and bodhrán, Dubliner Paul McGrattan (The Frost is all over, Keelwest, Beginish .....) on flute, Dundalk maestro Gerry O'Connor on fiddle (Lá Lugh, Skylark, Journeyman ......) and Breton guitar virtuoso Gilles le Bigot (Skolvan, Barzaz, Empreintes....) on guitar and tambura.
The Band's repertoire is mainly made up of traditional music and song from Ireland and Brittany with some Scottish material added for good measure. The Band is named after the famous Dublin folk club "The Tradition Club" which was held upstairs in Slattery's Pub in Capel Street in the 1970's and '80s. For many years the Tradition Club was the mecca for Traditional music lovers and Paul, Kevin and Gerry performed there on a regular basis.Whilst juggling with the busy touring schedules of the various band members, the band are currently working on their debut album which is due for release in Spring 2009.
