Hospitality at Russborough:

Facilities - The West Wing at Russborough

R
ussborough was built from 1741 -1750 by Joseph Leeson , the First Earl of Milltown and there were , in fact, seven Earls of Milltown before the property passed into new ownership . Some very distinguished people have occupied Russborough over the years including in most recent times Sir Alfred & Lady Beit. Sir Alfred & Lady Beit purchased Russborough in 1952 and it was used as their primary residence until 2005.

A very exciting development is to take place during 2009, in that the whole West Wing at Russborough is to be refurbished and made available for short term holiday letting. The West Wing will be able to accommodate up to 20 people very comfortably, and it will be a most exclusive location to spend a few days holiday, and from which to explore not only the Russborough demesne itself, but also the surrounding mountains , lakes and countryside.

The Alfred Beit Foundation, which is a charitable trust & owns Russborough house & demesne, will work together on this project with the Irish Landmark Trust which is itself a charitable trust and a not-for-profit organisation. The Irish Landmark Trust maintains a number of historic buildings by converting them to domestic use suitable for short term (eg. holiday) lettings. Whilst The Alfred Beit foundation will fund the initial restoration of the West Wing it will then partner the Landmark Trust in the advertising & promotion  of the West Wing for holiday lettings.

It is expected to have the restoration complete and available for let by autumn 2009 . This website will provide further information on the progress being made during 2009.
