West Wicklow Festival and Drogheda Classical Music present “Behind Closed Doors”. An evening of opera arias and songs, from the stunning Music Room at Russborough. This concert will be free to view, however, to ensure the West Wicklow Festival can continue to plan, support and employ those involved in the arts into the future, viewers will be invited to make a charitable donation after the concert.

Artist Biographies:

Irish tenor Dr Gavan Ring ‘s concert highlights include performances with the London Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms and Lucerne Festival under Sir Simon Rattle, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment at the Royal Festival Hall under Sir Mark Elder and the Munich Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Prinzregententheater under Keri Lynn-Wilson. Recital work includes regular broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and RTÉ Lyric FM plus appearances at Wigmore Hall, the Oxford Lieder Festival and the Ludlow English Song Festival collaborating with pianists such as Simon Lepper, Graham Johnson, Eugene Asti, Sholto Kynoch and Iain Burnside.

Opera highlights include leading roles at Opéra Royal de Versailles, Glyndebourne, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera North, Garsington Opera, Wexford Festival Opera and Opera Holland Park. Gavan’s ground-breaking doctoral research on Robert O’Dwyer’s Irish language opera Eithne led to the work's first performance in 107 years.

1st prize-winner of the 2012 Jaques Samuel Intercollegiate Piano Competition and former NCH Rising Star, Fiachra Garvey ARAM, has obtained his Dip Mus, BA and MA degrees from the Royal Academy of Music London, the RIAM
Dublin and received prizes at many international competitions including Dublin AXA, EU Prague and Collioure, France.

Concerto appearances include the Janáček Philharmonic, RTÉ NSO, RTÉ CO, Cambridge, UCD, RIAM Symphony Orchestras and the Hibernian Orchestra. Fiachra has recorded and broadcast for BBC and RTÉ and has
released two solo albums, “For the Piano (RTE Lyric fm label) and a Live from Wigmore Hall disc. Memorable highlights include Wigmore Hall, Fazioli Hall, NCH Dublin, St Magnus Festival Orkney, West Cork Festival,
Brighton Festival, Spoleto Festival, GOOGLE, Geneva Festival, Wexford Opera,
Philia Hall Japan and Zhejiang Concert Hall China.

Fiachra is the Founder and Artistic Director of the West Wicklow Festival and Vauxhall One Concert Series and is a board member of the Dublin International Piano Competition.
