Eamonn Heffernan, Wood Sculptor
Eamonn's wood sculpting studio is located in the East Wing courtyard at Russborough, where he designs and makes both abstract and traditional figures with a particular specialism in bog-oak. He is intrigued by the timeless quality of the locally sourced bog oak and takes pride in its preparation, sculpting and presentation of the product in equal measure, a process that takes almost three years following removal from the bog. Eamonn harnesses the natural sculptural qualities of the bogwood together with its intricate form and patterning to reveal its timeless nature, producing unique pieces and specialised commissions.
