Sales and Business Development Manager

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Russborough House & Park. The successful candidate will be an appropriately qualified and experienced professional sales and business development manager. You will be focussed on visitor satisfaction and will be capable of driving revenue and growth. You will possess a passion for dealing with people and motivating others to deliver stretch targets. Your key responsibilities will include leading and setting the strategy for sales and business development; working closely with colleagues on the Executive Team, you will deliver a high-quality sales offering at Russborough as a key part of the exceptional visitor experience.

This is a full-time permanent role developing, executing and overseeing all aspects of the sales strategy. The Sales and Business Development Manager will have a hands-on role in the daily operations, continuous development and enhancement of the Russborough Welcome.

Role purpose:

  • Drive all revenue opportunities from existing accounts through strategic planning and effective account management
  • Identify, develop and implement new business opportunities
  • Lead a group of highly committed staff in delivering the sales and tour experience in Russborough House and work with the Head of Collections & Conservation to develop and enhance the House Tour and associated offerings for visitors, and to ensure that preservation of the house, collections, and parklands is at the centre of everything we do
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date databases of key accounts and work with Tour Operators to create bespoke experiences; engage with local and global operators and develop strong relationship with key stakeholders in the delivery of the Russborough experience.

Key Duties

  • Seek to maximise all revenue opportunities from existing accounts through strategic planning and effective account management
  • Identify, develop and implement new business opportunities
  • Develop stakeholder partnerships and manage relationships
  • Develop and proactively implement and monitor an annual sales plan for Russborough House & Park.
  • Manage own portfolio of international and domestic accounts in Corporate, Agent and Leisure segments
  • Develop and promote Russborough Membership Scheme to meet annual growth targets
  • Manage the front-of-house team, ensuring the efficient running of operations; devising rotas, providing staff training, ensuring the appropriate tools and techniques are available, supporting technical requirements and building strong morale amongst the team at all times
  • Participate in and support the Front of House team with customer visits, site inspections and familiarization trips
  • Ensure that the front desk is adequately staffed at all times and to anticipate the need for additional cover particularly during busy periods.
  • Ensure all guests receive a genuine warm, friendly and courteous welcome on arrival Promote and represent Russborough House & Park at shows, exhibitions and sales missions
  • Manage sales projects as per business requirements
  • Work collaboratively with the Digital and Marketing Manager to prepare and commission tourist and visitor information including newsletters, promotional material and design displays
  • Collaborate with team members to organise and deliver special events as requested by individuals or tour companies such as civil ceremonies, festival events, Halloween and Christmas programmes etc
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date databases of key accounts
  • Work with Tour Operators to create bespoke experiences
  • Liaise with local and global operators
  • Manage procurement and ordering of products and services which contribute to the effective and efficient running of the business
  • Write and present reports for board meetings and CEO update meetings
  • Give talks to local parties and community groups where appropriate
  • Undertake market research with members of the public and visitors to consistently improve our standards and offering.
  • Administration and other duties as assigned by your manager
  • Work with Head of Collections & Conservation to develop and enhance the House Tour and associated offerings for visitors, and to ensure that preservation of the house, collections, and parklands is at the centre of everything we do.

Candidates must possess

  • 3 to 5 years of progressive sales and business development experience
  • Excellent proven record of sales strategy execution
  • Evidence of strengths as a team player
  • Excellent commercial awareness
  • Excellent attention to detail and knowledge of products, consumer trends and demands
  • Demonstrated project management abilities
  • Evidence of strong people management experience, delegation of tasks and leadership qualities
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, EPOS)
  • Ability to work successfully and maintain stamina in a constantly evolving setting – responding positively to working under pressure, prioritising and multitasking
  • Enjoys working with people and is customer focussed
  • Excellent understanding and comprehension of what it takes to deliver a world-class visitor experience
