Join Assistant Curator Dr Sarah Coviello for a guided exploration of the classical statues that line the Colonnade, and the wider sculptural collection within the house.

Curator’s Talk: The Classical Statues of the Colonnade

Members’ Event | 17 July

The talk will begin outdoors beneath the elegant colonnade, where visitors will encounter the marble figures in their striking architectural setting. Here, against the rhythm of columns and open sky, Sarah will consider their origins, symbolism and the enduring appeal of classical form in an Irish Palladian setting.

The group will then move inside to the Main House Entrance Hall to explore further sculptures and casts displayed within the historic interiors, tracing how these works complement the architecture and contribute to the atmosphere of arrival and grandeur.

This is a special opportunity to look more closely, ask questions, and gain deeper insight into a collection that is often passed but rarely paused upon.
