Car Boot Art Fair 2021

When: Sunday 19th September | 11am to 4pm

Join some of our most celebrated artists at this always-lively fundraiser for Russborough. Part art fair, part car boot sale - oh, where did we get the name? - it's a chance to engage with the artists and their art informally, and enjoy the exclusive opportunity to pick up a temptingly affordable piece. Or two. Perhaps even have your own portrait done on the spot.

Who is participating? Full List of Artists here.

We look forward to welcoming back prominent members of the Royal Hibernian Academy such as Joe Dunne, Blaise Smith, Dorothy Smith and Una Sealy, who was recently appointed the first ever Professor of Art at the RCSI! Other academics joining us include Andrew Folan and Taffina FLood from NCAD.

Appropriate to the glorious backdrop of the West Wicklow mountains and Blessington Lakes, we welcome artists who revel in the Irish landscape such as Ann Quinn & Daniel Lipstein, Rachel Burke and Michael Wann. Artist Gabhann Dunne is inspired not just by the landscape but also by ancient folklore and tradition enmeshed with animal mythologies. Also finding inspiration in the animal world is renowned painter Bennie Reilly and her fantastic beasts. Another husband and wife team participating are Elaine Leader and Colin Martin.

The participants include illustrious abstract painters such as Eamon Colman, Thomas Brezing, Stephen Rinn and Helen Blake, who is currently showing in Sligo alongside another CBAF participant Susan Connolly. Printmakers Monika Crowley and Joanna Kidney will show selections of new work. Illustrator P J Lynch will also have some prints along with original drawings, oil paintings and signed books while Sean Molloy, Catherine Barron, John O’Reilly and Patrick Redmond will tempt us with specially produced and priced new works for the event.

This year, the fair coincides with the autumn rally for the Blessington Vintage Car and Motorcycle club. A fabulous array of rare and antique vehicles can be seen on the carriage sweep to the front of the house. Take some time to chat to the knowledgeable enthusiasts who care for these wonderful pieces of history. Russborough catering partners, LoveFood, will fire up the barbecue to cater for the hungry hordes or contact them on 086 4444480 to pre-order a picnic basket.

This year, the Car Boot Art Fair is located in the West Courtyard, follow the signposts from the car park.

Tickets €10. 11am to 4pm, Sun. 19 Sept. Children go free.
